The Victoria Police Act 2013 (Vic) (the Police Act) received Royal Assent on 17 December 2013 and came into effect on 1 July 2014. The Police Act was intended to abolish the Police Regulation Act 1958 (Vic) and create "a new principal act for the administration and governance of the Victoria Police.
